CLEO & Band brings Broadway glamour and blue note feeling to Mannheim
On Monday, October 19, 2026, CLEO & Band transforms the jazz club Ella & Louis in Mannheim into a stage for great melodies, intimate sound colors, and modern jazz energy. The concert From Broadway to Blue Notes combines the elegance of musical theater with the freedom of jazz.
Between musical classics and improvised finesse
CLEO interprets songs by Cole Porter, Stephen Sondheim, and George Gershwin in a personal and contemporary way. Her sensual, powerful, and virtuoso-led voice meets modern arrangements where melodic precision and improvisational openness intertwine.
A band with strong chamber music interplay
On stage are Michael Valeanu on guitar, Béla Meinberg on piano, Doug Weiss on bass, and Rafa Müller on drums. The lineup creates space for fine dialogues between voice and instruments, rhythmic synchronization, and a vibrant stage performance. Between swinging elegance, bluesy depth, and contemporary jazz, a sound full of expression and energy evolves.
CLEO: a distinctive voice in the German jazz scene
The singer CLEO, civil name Cleo Steinberger, is one of the exciting newcomers in the German jazz scene. Her musical development is closely linked to gospel, blues, New Orleans jazz, funk, and soul. Her debut album Let Them Talk was awarded the Quarterly Prize of the German Record Critics. In Mannheim, this bluesy rootedness meets the grand dramaturgy of Broadway.
Jazz club atmosphere at Ella & Louis
The Ella & Louis is located in the heart of Mannheim within the Rosengarten and represents live jazz in an intimate club atmosphere. Two sets with intermission, warm stage lighting, and the immediate proximity between the audience and musicians create the perfect backdrop for a concentrated concert experience. Beverages and light snacks are offered in the club.
Conclusion: An evening for open ears and great jazz moments
CLEO & Band promises an evening between Broadway, blues, and modern jazz language.
