Four to eight hands, one piano, and a special concert evening

The Mannheim Piano Ensemble invites you on Saturday, October 17, 2026, to an extraordinary collegium concert at the Mannheim Music School. Collegium members and guest musician present piano music for four to eight hands, showcasing how much sound, rhythm, and musical energy can be created with just one instrument.

When multiple pianists create a sound body

Joo-Jung Lee-Hirsch, Hyunjoo Shin, Min Lee as a guest, and Minae Kim shape a varied program with works from different eras. Four to eight hands share the keyboard, connecting individual voices into a common musical line and creating an impressive concert experience through precise synchronization.

Orchestration at the piano

The unique composition opens up a fascinating sound world: melodies, accompaniment figures, and rhythmic impulses intertwine immediately. Through the close coordination of the players, an orchestral effect is created, even though the musical action remains concentrated on a single grand piano or piano. It is this connection of chamber music, technical precision, and lively stage performance that makes the evening special.

Experience music from different eras live

The program takes the audience through different musical styles and eras. Tone colors, articulation, and dynamics are highlighted particularly clearly. The audience experiences how compositions change through varying instrumentation and how conducting, breathing, and mutual listening determine the musical dramaturgy even without a large orchestra.

A concert evening with a personal atmosphere

The Mannheim Music School provides the perfect setting for a focused and immediate evening. Proximity to the stage, clear acoustics, and the visible collaboration of the pianists make the audience's mood an important part of the live atmosphere. Every movement at the keyboard becomes part of the shared stage performance.

Conclusion: An extraordinary piano concert in Mannheim

The collegium concert of the Mannheim Piano Ensemble promises an inspiring evening of chamber music detailing, orchestral sound richness, and playful virtuosity. Anyone wanting to experience piano music up close and discover the fascinating world of four to eight-handed playing should attend this concert live at the Mannheim Music School. Admission is free.
