Playing Under Power: Digital Adventures for Curious Children
How do game robots work, what’s inside a game app, and which console games are especially fun? At the family experience Playing Under Power, children discover digital gaming worlds at the N³ Library Lab of the Mannheim City Library with curiosity, joy, and children's laughter.
Discover, try out, and be amazed
On Saturday, October 17, 2026, the Mannheim City Library invites children to try out console games, game robots, and game apps themselves. The child-friendly format combines digital media with active learning experiences: children experiment, observe, compare and develop their own ideas.
Age-appropriate and fun learning
The offer is aimed at children aged 8 to 12 years. Children aged 6 and above can also participate accompanied by their parents. Playing together enhances curiosity, creativity, problem-solving skills, and safe handling of digital media. Parents will learn how digital games can serve as conversation starters and family experiences.
Quality Time in the Library Lab
The N³ Library Lab provides a suitable framework for free experimentation and shared discovery. A lively atmosphere forms between consoles, apps, and robots, where children can gather their own experiences and exchange about their discoveries. Thus, the event combines media education, a sense of community, and fun learning.
Entry and Registration
Participation is free of charge. Registration is required and can be done via email to stadtbibliothek.paedagogik@mannheim.de. The event starts at 11:00 am and ends at 1:00 pm.
Families can look forward to a varied morning filled with digital games, exciting tech moments, and many opportunities to try things out. Those who inspire children with console games, robots, and apps will experience a child-friendly learning experience filled with joy, wonder, and shared time.
