When silence becomes a crime scene: The Package live at Capitol Mannheim
A package. A traumatic memory. And a truth that can no longer be hidden. On November 2, 2026, the Lauscherlounge transforms Sebastian Fitzek's psychological thriller The Package into an intense live audio play at Capitol Mannheim.
Psychological thriller as an immediate stage experience
The stage adaptation by Josef Ulbig immerses the audience in a gripping story full of psychological tension. After the kickoff tour in 2024, the live audio play returns, combining Fitzek's thriller dramaturgy with the concentrated power of spoken word.
At the center are a high-profile cast, precise direction, thrilling music, and a sound designer who creates her own world with props and acoustic details. Every step, every creak, and every sudden sound transition becomes part of the narrative. The audience's imagination is given as much space as the stage.
Acoustic, light, and the art of suggestion
A live audio play does not work with fully lit images but with fragments. Voices emerge from the darkness, sounds release inner images, and the music condenses the atmosphere into a nervous pulse. The dramaturgy arises from the interplay of closeness and distance, apparent safety and sudden threat.
This way, Capitol Mannheim becomes a resonance room for a production where acting and sound design work equally together. The theater atmosphere thrives on shared attention: the audience does not only listen, but decodes every acoustic trace.
A multifaceted stage adaptation
The production appeals to thriller fans and to anyone who wants to experience literature in a different way. Fitzek's best-selling material unfolds a special tension in the live format, as the crucial images are not delivered ready-made. They are created in the mind – triggered by voices, music, sounds, and reactions in the auditorium.
The event is expected to last until 10:30 PM. Entrance begins at 7:00 PM. Children under 16 years are advised against attending. The performance contains scenes of psychological, physical, and sexual violence, as well as references to suicide and sexual promiscuity.
A Capitol with a unique history
Capitol Mannheim is located in a former cinema and is one of the defining cultural venues in the city. The ground floor is fully accessible; a barrier-free restroom is available. Wheelchair users and their companions can reserve tickets directly with Capitol.
Conclusion: Tension that permeates the auditorium
The Package promises not an ordinary audio play but a dense stage experience between acting, sound art, and psychological thriller. Those who want to experience Sebastian Fitzek's material with all their senses will find an evening full of goosebump moments, acoustic illusions, and dramatic twists at Capitol Mannheim.
