Fox and Piglet bring sweet medicine to the stage

When Piglet coughs, his friend Fox is immediately there: As a self-proclaimed doctor, he prescribes an unusual medicine of two liters of lemonade and four chocolate kisses – four times a day. The Young WLB of the Württemberg State Theatre Esslingen brings Bjørn F. Rørvik's imaginative picture book story to the Mannheim City Library, Vogelstang branch on October 20, 2026.

A friendship full of imagination and humor

A small cough turns into a turbulent adventure. Piglet takes his prescription to the cow, who gives him the promised treats. Soon, the supposed miracle cure spreads through the forest, and all the animals want to be treated by Fox. The story celebrates childlike imagination, friendship, and the liberating nonsense of theater.

Vivid staging by the Young WLB

The production by Laura Tetzlaff transforms Rørvik's narrating picture book for the first time into a play. A colorful stage design by Renata Kerbler, lively scenes, and the precisely placed comedy of the actresses Alisha Sharin Iyer and Marisa Lacatena create an immediate theater atmosphere. Slapstick, playful energy, and physical acting make the performance a sensual stage experience for children aged five and up.

Dramaturgy for young audiences

Sarah Frost is responsible for the dramaturgy, and Tobias Metz oversees the theater education. The approximately 40-minute performance is continuous and is aimed at children aged five and older and students from the first grade onwards. The narrative picture book was nominated for the German Children's Literature Prize in 2023 in the category of children's books.

A small stage for great audience reactions

The press highlighted the charming, witty play style, the imaginative set design, and the slapstick of the two-person production at the Esslingen premiere. This creates a theater visit that reaches both children and families alike: playful, funny, and full of heart.

Conclusion: Sweet medicine for gray days

The performance of Fox and Piglet combines picture book poetry, child-friendly dramaturgy, and lively stage art. The audience can expect a warm-hearted children's theater piece about friendship, imagination, and the joy of playing together. The event is sold out.
