Home Game 7: Discover Contemporary Art from Mannheim at PORT25
With HOME GAME 7, the Cultural Office of the City of Mannheim presents current art acquisitions from the local scene at PORT25. The exhibition connects different artistic positions and makes visible how diverse visual arts are practiced, conceptualized, and developed in Mannheim.
A Panorama of Artistic Forms of Expression
The exhibition showcases a broad spectrum from photography, painting, drawing, and graphics to steel works, ceramics, plastic artworks, installations, and conceptual art. In the exhibition atmosphere of PORT25, young artists at the beginning of their careers meet established art personalities. Color, form, material, and movement continually open new avenues for experiencing the works.
Art Acquisitions as Cultural Promotion
The HOME GAME series was initiated by the Cultural Office Mannheim in 2022. The acquired works are made accessible to a broader audience and simultaneously strengthen the local art scene. So far, the Cultural Office has directly supported 68 artists from Mannheim through the acquisition of their works. Thus, the exhibition becomes a place of cultural education where art production, municipal promotion, and public collections intersect.
Eight Positions, Many Perspectives
On display are works by Jana Bißdorf, emmanuel boos, Rüdiger Krenkel, Fabian Widukind Penzkofer, Gaby Peters, Bernhard Sandfort, Sonja Scherer, and Mehrdad Zaeri. The works engage with topics such as the relationship between order and chance, ecological issues, technological developments, as well as color, form, and movement. A particular focus is on an early drawing by Mehrdad Zaeri.
Experiencing the Works in Space
HOME GAME 7 invites you to experience the materiality and spatial effect of contemporary art directly. Between graphic lines, photographic perspectives, ceramic surfaces, and installed presences, a varied art experience emerges. The exhibition offers both experienced art lovers and curious first-time visitors points of connection for a personal aesthetic experience.
Conclusion: Experience Mannheim Art Live
HOME GAME 7 shows how lively, independent, and multifaceted the art scene in Mannheim is. Those who want to experience different media, current positions, and the impact of art acquisitions in public spaces will find an inspiring exhibition with sustainable cultural value at PORT25. A visit enriches personal contemplation of works and opens one's view to the art that is created directly in the city.
